History of Wugulun Kung fu

Wugulun Kung fu is the traditional Shaolin Kung fu whose origins date as far back as the Sixth
Century when Bodhidharma, who brought Buddhism from India to China, settled in Shaolin
in Henan Province, China. He developed a series of exercises designed to promote health and
fitness and to improve the practice of meditation.

The tradition continued and evolved but was almost destroyed when the Shaolin temple was
attacked and burnt down in 1928. Shortly before this tragic event, Master Wu Gulun, one of
the temple’s most famous monks, had left the temple and returned to his home in the nearby
mountains where he continued to study and practice the Shaolin culture in secret and then
passed the tradition on to his son, Wu Shanlin. The lineage then passed to Zhang Qinghe and
finally to the current Fourth Generation Master, Shi Dejian and Master Wu Nanfang, the
great, great grandson of Master Wu Gulun.

Shi Xing Xiao,Shaolin monk and Wugulun Student of Shi Dejian,
died of cancer at a very young age of 36.1 October 2009 he
left this planet and a big gap in the Wugulun sociëty.
He was one of the few who led a school in Dengfeng. For now only
Shi Dejian and Wu Nanfang have official schools.
